Delivering the bigger picture
Ikegami is a leading manufacturer of specialised cameras, image processing and transmission equipment. The company is known worldwide for high-quality products for broadcast, CCTV, industrial and medical applications. The Ikegami product range offers a unique convergence of attributes incorporating the latest innovations. Ikegami has consistently created the most advanced products for image acquisition, processing, recording, display and transmission.
Ikegami broadcast equipment has earned the trust of stations around the world including cameras that have captured the action at large-scale events around the world. The company produces broadcast camera systems in nearly 20 designs ranging from UHK-435 studio box camera model and its UHK-430 EFP equivalent to POV heads such as the compact HDL-45E.
Camera systems
The UHK-430 is a 4K-native IP-ready portable camera system with the ability to output 4K HDR and 2K SDR simultaneously. A studio version for use with box lenses is also available – the UHK-435. Both models incorporate three 2/3 inch CMOS sensors providing full 3840 x 2160 ultra-high definition resolution plus the depth of field needed for studio and outdoor production. An optional SMPTE media-over-IP board can be fitted to the CCU to provide IP video connectivity.
Among other recent additions is the 4K-ready HDK-99 which employs three full-HD 2.6 megapixel 2/3-inch CMOS image sensors to achieve high-quality HDTV video with a horizontal resolution of 1000TVL, SNR of 62dB or more and sensitivity of F12. This model supports high-bandwidth 3G-SDI (1080p59.94/50Hz) video output, HDR, 2x slow-motion and 16-axis colour correction. An optional board for the camera’s control unit (CCU-980/BS-98) provides a 4K output from a 2K source and is the ideal solution for an affordable transition from HD to UHD production. Integral to the HDK-99 and other recently introduced Ikegami cameras is the AXII processor which allows fast and precise colour matching for live multi-camera applications.
For high quality picture assessment, Ikegami offers a range of displays. The recently introduced HQLM-3125X is a 31-inch 4K/HD master grade monitor supporting BT 2020 UHD, HDTV, HDR and SDR. It is equipped with two 12G-SDI input channels as standard for efficient configuration with 4K equipment such as cameras and switchers. 3G-SDI, HD-SDI and HDMI inputs are also provided as standard. The monitor employs a 4096 x 2160 pixel UHD LCD panel with LED backlighting. The dual-LCD-layer technology enables this display to reproduce high resolution 4K and 2K images with a contrast of 1,000,000:1 and a luminance of 1,000 NITS across the entire screen.
The recently introduced HLM-60 series multi-format LCD colour video monitors comprises the 24-inch HLM-2460W, 17-inch HLM-1760WR and the nine-inch HLM-960WR. Each has a full HD 1920 x 1080 panel with power-efficient LED backlighting. The HLM-1760WR and LM-960WR can be powered from AC or DC. Multi-format SD/HD-SDI, 3G-SDI, HDMI and VBS inputs are provided as standard. A 4K 2SI input is available for 2K resolution monitoring of a 4K source. Audio features include SDI-embedded audio monitoring and 5.1ch surround down-mix output. Each model in the HLM-60 series includes test and measurement tools.
Ikegami Unicam series products are designed for integration into complete systems with supporting modules such as on-camera viewfinders. Newest of these are the VFL201A two-inch HD LCD colour monoscope with integrated heater and the seven-inch direct-view full-HD VFL-701A.
Ikegami VCP
In addition to a wide selection of hardware OCPs, the recently introduced Ikegami VCP is a cost-efficient software based virtual control panel. This can control up to five cameras from a single windows PC. Assignable buttons and slide bars allow each control panel to be set up separately for each camera. Multiple VCPs can be combined with Ikegami’s conventional OCPs via a local network, as well as Ikegami’s VMP (Virtual Master Control Panel). The VMP offers the same scope of functions as Ikegami’s MCP-300, including complete camera setup and control, file management/transfer and camera diagnostics.
