Crafting intelligent console systems
Calrec is a leading designer and supplier of audio broadcast mixing equipment, relied on by the world’s most successful broadcasters.
Formed as a microphone manufacturer in 1964, Calrec’s reputation for build quality, reliability and audio performance has made it an industry benchmark across the world.
Calrec’s aim is to refine workflows and define emerging trends.
Since designing its first audio console in 1971, Calrec has strived to ensure its customers are one step ahead of the changing needs of the broadcast environment.
Today, different broadcasters have very different requirements and Calrec has designed its audio solutions to adapt to different workflows.
Coupled with highly resilient products, this has earned Calrec a reputation as pioneers chosen by the world’s foremost broadcasters.
Comprehensive Range of Consoles
Calrec has developed a comprehensive range of mixing consoles that integrate seamlessly via established and emerging industry standards.
At the top end of the range are the highly configurable Apollo and Artemis models that allow the customer to tailor the surface and channel count to their requirements.
Apollo provides unsurpassed processing power with unrivalled resources of 1020 channels and can squeeze more faders into a single footprint than any other console.
Artemis provides a more compact surface when space is a premium and comes in four different DSP channel packs to suit a range of productions.
For price and space sensitive markets, Calrec’s Summa and Brio consoles are powerful and have a full broadcast feature set with a more compact form.
All these desks can be networked together to share resources and to create incredibly flexible broadcast solutions.
Type R takes Calrec into radio which introduces a whole new set of challenges and requirements.
Type R has been developed specifically for an IP environment with a highly configurable surface to adapt to any workflow.
IP Workflows
As the broadcast industry marches towards standardised transport mechanisms and remote production, Calrec is ready to facilitate the transition and support modern broadcasters.
Calrec’s ImPulse core incorporates IP networking technologies and immersive audio capabilities.
ImPulse offers five DSP channel packs, is compatible with any current Apollo or Artemis surface and can host up to four separate mixing desks on a single core.
Combined with Calrec’s IP gateway products, broadcasters can bridge the gap between Calrec’s Hydra2 networks and the IP domain.
Broadcasters can be assured that Calrec can provide all their audio solutions.
All Calrec products are designed, manufactured and tested at Calrec’s Nutclough Mill headquarters in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, England.
From customer research and product development, through R&D, to wiring and test departments, product development is all in-house.
This ensures the integrity and a quality standard unsurpassed
in the broadcast console marketplace.
It’s an exciting time to be in broadcast audio, and Calrec is right at the heart of it.
